Tell Congress: The time for D.C. statehood is NOW!
When rioters attacked the U.S. Capitol, the District of Columbia had to wait for permission before deploying the National Guard because it wasn’t a state.
D.C.'s population is greater than two states, and its 700,000 residents pay taxes and serve our nation while receiving no votes in Congress.
In 2016, over 85% of the plurality-Black city voted to demand statehood.
It’s time to end this racial injustice, and end taxation without representation.
Tell Congress: STATEHOOD NOW! Pass the Washington D.C. Admission Act.
“DC has 712,000 residents, more than Vermont and Wyoming and comparable with other states including Delaware, Alaska, and several others.” (DC.Gov)
“The District of Columbia is the only political and geographical entity within the United States of America whose citizens bear the responsibilities of citizenship, including taxation and Selective Service registration, without sharing in the full rights and privileges of citizenship.” (DC.Gov)
“Washington’s residents pay more taxes than residents in 22 states and pay more per capita to the federal government than any state—yet they have no votes in Congress.” (DC.Gov)
